AUTOMATED eCOMMERCE PACKSHOT PRODUCTION

P&G’s product range incudes 65 brands retailing in 180 countries. With each brand offering multiple SKUs and size variations, the result is an exponential explosion of packshot requirements to enable ecommerce sales.

P&G approached ARNE.STUDIO to develop a automated workflow which would simplify and accelerate the production process while driving image consistency and reducing cost.

ARNE.STUDIO delivered a custom set of plugins capable of assembling the required inputs (product form, appearance, artwork..) based on a given PLM milestone. Once assembled the application produces the required packshot based on a set of customizable brand specific rules before tagging the assets and uploading them back into the P&G database.

The solution was first introduced in 2021 and has been growing in capability and capacity offering a number of key benefits;

Low per asset cost

  • Potential for completely hands-free creation and delivery of ecommerce images.
  • Based on previously project delivery we benchmarks costs at over 60% cost saving vs manual packshot delivery. Costs come from setup and artwork manipulation not asset creation.

Fast turn around

  • From inputs release (template, material, artwork) 3K, GS1 complaint, XMP tagged assets can be delivered in 15 mins after initial artwork approval stage gate.

Brand consistency

  • Each image is generated using brand, and even SKU specific, template which drives color, orientation, artwork presentation and lighting standards.
  • These standards are preset to meet different band, pack type and even regional requirements

This program is an example of how by combining our system level understanding of go to market activates withing the packaging space and our ability to assemble bespoke teams of developers can result in step changes to incumbent business workflows
